It's Showtime...Opening Night
posted: March 2, 2007
Thoroughly Modern Millie began it's run last night, with my daughter in the role of Millie. It played to a sold out audience and Anna was in her best form. We delivered the backdrops the night before the full dress rehearsal and everyone seems pleased with the result. If you think facing the "white Bull" of a blank piece of paper can be intimidating...try 48 feet of blank canvas.
A view of the down stage curtain with the excellent pit band.
Just a few of the photos I shot with a telephoto lens.

The Gothard Uber-Genes Strikes again! She looks fantastic, David.. and it all looks absolutely nothing like any school show I've ever seen! very cool.

GIVE MY REGARDS TO BANGOR! REMEMBER ME TO EMMAUS! TELL ALL THE BOYS IN ALLENTOWN THAT I WILL SOON BE THERE! High School plays are great fun!

Lordy, this looks like the greatest school play ever put on! Anna looks so brimming with life and feeling; these look like shots from a professional production. You both deserve a standing ovation!!

Cheers to the whole Gothard family! This was obviously a night to remember. Anna looks great and I agree about the pictures looking like they're of a top notch professional production. Thanks for sharing, Dave.

Thanks all !!! I was pleasantly amazed at how professional this production is. Broadway does not get any better than this. i know, I know...I lack the objectivity to declare such things...but really. Confession: I hate musicals, but I love them when my daughter is in them. She possesses such grace and confidence, and can reduce the audiance to tears in one scene, and hysterical laughter in the next. Dave PS: Stephen...Pennsylvania is waiting for the return of it's native son.

Flat out raves, if looks are any indication! She's clearly a barnstormer. How'd Edel score that part of the bow-tied suitor?

I went to see the Saturday Matinee with my family! The show was awesome. Not your typical High School production! The acting, singing and dancing were fantastic. Seems to me the part of Millie was written for Anna, she was absolutely delightful. She reminds me of a young Lucille Ball. The Backdrops were gorgeous. I thought they must have been rented. After browsing the web, I found this site and realized they were created for the show. Unbelievable. All my best to you and your family!
